END OF NATIONS / CASE NOTES
What happens when art, sound and space meet?
Two editions. One place for unexpected connections.
01 / THE SERIES
Make room
for the unexpected.
End of Nations brought artists, studios and audiences together at Monopol Berlin across two editions: Aesthetics of the Mind in 2022 and Pulse of Existence in 2023. A former distillery became a meeting place for moving images, installations and spatial sound.
I developed the concept with Alex through Magnificent Matter, bringing event management and creative direction for motion into the same process. The work moved between the invitation people saw before arriving and the experience they stepped into.
Tom Herman created the visual identity. I worked on its motion direction, carrying that graphic language into the event’s communication. The series became a way to connect my work as an artist with the work of bringing other people’s ideas together.

02 / 2022
Aesthetics
of the Mind.
On 28 May 2022, the programme opened three different worlds: light in the Sun Room, dream-driven generative media in the Moon Room, and spatial audiovisual work in the Star Room.
Magnificent Matter’s microscopic visuals met Robot Koch’s The Next Billion Years (Foam and Sand Reworks). Around them, installations and works by other artists offered different ways of inhabiting the bunker.
The wider invitation extended to Monopol’s residents and friends. The programme below keeps that collective contribution visible.
01 / Aesthetics of the Mind / 28 May 2022

03 / 2023
Pulse
of Existence.
The second edition returned to Monopol from 26–28 May 2023. I continued with programme planning and production, performed as an artist, and curated one of the days.
INVERSION brought the building’s industrial past into the present. In the former boiler halls, David Egger and the installation team traced the missing distillation kettles with laser light and LED strips. The architecture became the subject of the work.
Elsewhere, Theresa Reiwer’s Decoding Bias placed the audience inside an eight-screen environment. DEREAL Studio contributed abstract audiovisual interludes, working with studio.512, Monopol and Reiwer. Different artistic languages shared the same space without needing to become the same thing.

THE ANSWER, SO FAR
Build the conditions for something to happen.
Across the two editions, my role connected concept, programme and production with my own artistic practice. Bringing people and disciplines into conversation became as much a part of the work as the images themselves.
